At STABLE of Ireland, sustainability isn't a marketing label — it's Irish design and made local, in practice. Every scarf, jumper and homeware piece is created with longevity in mind, and many are cut and hand-sewn just steps from our shop off Grafton Street, in STABLE's own production studio in central Dublin. From the natural fibres we choose to the weavers and seamstresses we work with across Ireland, here's how we try to do right by the planet, our makers and our customers.
When we approach the design for our accessories, clothing collections and home products, a driving guide is the longevity of the piece and style. We aim to design for long-term use. Designs are classic, not trend-driven. We practice what we preach, buying less and more consciously, choosing quality over quantity.
STABLE has its own production studio in central Dublin, where many of our pieces are cut and sewn by hand before being carried on foot to our store off Grafton Street. We work with a wonderful team of talented seamstresses in Dublin and across Ireland to make our accessories and clothing — a collective of multi-generational, talented people who come from all corners of the world and have chosen Ireland as home. For our knitting and weaving, woodwork and other accessories for the home, we work with both large and small makers across the island, north and south. Our friendships and collaborations with the people we produce with are precious to us, and we hugely respect the skills and integrity they bring to the STABLE offering.
From the outset, we have always chosen natural fabrics and fibres — 100% wool, linen, cashmere, alpaca, silk and cotton, leather and wood sourced on the island where possible. Natural fibres and materials are biodegradable and healthier for us as humans, too.
Like attracts like. So it's no surprise we gravitate towards those individuals and companies that equally have the environment and human welfare at the heart of their business practices.
Where it is possible to find production on the island of Ireland, we will design and source our fabrics and materials from Irish weavers, knitters and makers.
We continue to reduce the amount of packaging we produce for our store and online fulfilment, choosing locally sourced paper-based packaging and biodegradable cellophane.
